Minden, NV The Douglas County Community & Senior Center building is nearing completion and as it turns out, happens to have a hydraulic elevator that includes a product manufactured locally. The elevator is a new Machine Room Less (MRL) hydraulic elevator design containing Maxton Manufacturing Company’s elevator control valve, a component within the elevator power unit, that is made right here in Minden, NV. Since 1995 Maxton Manufacturing Company has produced their hydraulic elevator control valves and support products for the elevator industry at its Minden facility off Orbit Way.
While touring the new community center during construction last month, Maxton CEO Bill Shrum first learned of the hydraulic elevator in the building. While walking past the elevator equipment he confirmed a Maxton valve was installed and would be serving the local community here at home. “We are proud of the valves we manufacture and sell throughout North America and internationally, but it’s a real pleasure to see our product come full circle, back home, for use by our local community. I want to thank Scott Morgan, Community Services Director, and Jason Bartels, Superintendent Core Construction, for allowing Maxton access to the job,” said Karl Keller Marketing Director at Maxton.
The image above shows the valve located within the elevator hoist way through an adjacent hall way access on this installation, but what does the control valve do exactly? Well, the Maxton product is a mechanically operated elevator control valve that regulates the hydraulic fluid flow between the pump/tank and the piston, which the car rides on, carrying passengers up and down. The valve regulates speed, rates and ride quality of the car from floor to floor within a properly functioning and adjusted hydraulic elevator.
